Dexter Roberts is on the Cusp of The Voice Finale

Dexter Roberts continues to shine on The Voice. The Alabama country singer is one of eight singers still vying for the title of The Voice in the 16th season of the singing competition.

This season on The Voice Team Blake coached by country music superstar Blake Shelton has dominated the competition. Of the eight remaining artists five are members of Team Blake and Team Kelly’s Rod Stokes originated on Team Blake. According to Roberts the success of the Team is a testament to how goof of a coach Shelton is.

“Yeah Team Blake is dominating…It goes to say if anybody asks how good our coach is you can look right there. You know he’s doing a good job…” said Roberts.

Roberts is on the cusp of making Finale of Season 16 of The Voice. During the Top Eight performances Dexter performed “Hey Jude” with fellow Team Blake member Gyth Rigdon. For his solo performance Roberts went out of his comfort zone and performed 3 Doors Down's "Here Without You" something that was praised by Kelly Clarkson. Each week that Roberts remains on the show he feels more and more blessed. After advancing to the Top 13 Roberts said,

“It was like I just conquered Mt. Everest. You know so many emotions were going through my mind. I thank the good lord [for allowing me to advance]. Right after [Carson said my name] I put my head down because I wouldn’t be here without the [good lord], he’s opened so many doors for me. I’m so blessed…:

With each passing week Roberts fan base grows stronger. The talented artist is amazed at the fan support at home in Alabama, all over the country, and the world.

“The fan support has been amazing. It’s really crazy and a really neat experience to see everybody engage in my hometown and all over the state of Alabama, and even in different countries. They send me fan mail, fan posts. It’s a cool feeling and an awesome feeling altogether just to know that there are people out there that love what you do and love the person you are and how you sing. It’s a great feeling to know that people buy your music…” said Roberts.

Over the course of the competition Roberts has been able to work closely with his Coach and Mentor, Blake Shelton. For Roberts who grew up listening to Shelton’s music it is a dream come true.

“How’s it been working with Blake? It’s been awesome. It’s been fun. There’s so many things you can say about him and it’s all good. I’ve looked up to him my entire life. I’ve grownup listening to Blake and listening to 90s country. His song Ole Red was one of the first songs I learned to play on the guitar and being able to have him as a coach and a mentor [it’s awesome]. It’s like he’s a friend because we’ve gotten to talk and hangout. He likes the same kind of stuff I do. It’s a really cool experience,” said Roberts.

To find out if Roberts will advance to the Finale of Season 16 of The Voice tune in to NBC tonight for the results. Three artists will advance to the finale based on America’s vote and one artist will be saved by the Instant Save. The remaining four artists will be eliminated.
